How to build a multi-week training program
Updated July 25, 2026
A single workout is a session; a program is the arc — weeks of training that build on each other. Written as a pile of loose sessions, a client’s progression turns into guesswork: which week are they on, what came before, what is meant to come next.

Lay out the weeks
Add a workout to a day of a week — Week 1 Monday, Wednesday, Friday — then Week 2, and on. The program holds the shape of the whole block, not one day at a time, so the progression is something you can see rather than remember.
Reuse the same session across weeks
A beginner repeats “Full Body A” three days a week for a month; the load creeps up, the session stays. You build the block once and it carries the client through the whole phase, instead of re-typing a plan every Monday.
Assign it to a client
Pick a client and a start date, and the whole program lands on their calendar as booked practices — every week, every day, in one action. From then on they just follow it.
CoachTrail’s programs turn a month of training into one object you build once and assign. Create your coach account and program your first block free.
