Pre-session readiness: coach around a rough day
Updated July 26, 2026
A program is written weeks ahead; a body shows up on the day. Between them sits the question every good coach asks in person and most apps ignore online: how are you, actually? A fifteen-second readiness check puts that question back in front of the client before they lift.

Three taps, not a questionnaire
Sleep, energy, soreness — each on a one-to-five scale. That is the whole thing. It is deliberately not the bloated daily wellness form nobody fills in; it is short enough that a client actually does it, every session, on the way to the first set.
The coach sees a colour
Those three taps become one band — green, amber or red — on the coach’s side of the session. You do not read three numbers per client per day; you read a traffic light, and only look closer when it is worth it.
It feeds the load, too
A red day does not just sit there. It caps the next load suggestion to a hold, so nobody chases a heavy top set on four hours of sleep. The readiness check is small on its own and quietly load-bearing underneath the plan.
In CoachTrail the readiness check takes fifteen seconds and reaches the coach as a single signal. Start coaching free — your first three clients are on the house.
