Reusable workout templates: program once, coach everyone

Updated July 25, 2026

You do not write a new session from scratch for every client, and you should not have to. Most of your programming is variations on a handful of sessions. A reusable template captures that handful once, so the work you repeat is the coaching, not the typing.

A template holds the shape, not the load

A template is the exercises and circuits in order — the shape of the session. It deliberately carries no weights, because the weights belong to the person doing the session, not to the session itself.

One template, every client’s weights

Because the load goes in when you book the template for a client, a single “Upper body A” works for the beginner and the competitor at the same time, each at their own numbers. That is the whole point of a template: reuse without sameness.

Edit the template, not twelve copies

Swap an exercise or fix the order and you change it in one place. If every client had their own hand-copied plan, that same change would be twelve edits and one of them would get missed.

CoachTrail is built on reusable templates with per-client loads at booking, so one session serves your whole roster. Create your coach account and build your first templates free.
